Brain Connection

The majority of us have seen once or twice or multiple times a science fiction movie, novel,  and show. We see and read about extraordinary things in these science fiction books and movies but can they really just be fiction. What if I told you that theses cool robots and Nano chips are real. Well as I was reading the article on Mind control  & The Internet, http://www.nybooks.com/articles/archives/2011/jun/23/mind-control-and-internet/
I have notice the great ideas scientists have for the brain.  As the article mentioned there are many years to come to fully have a well created computer brain chip to fully function. This new technology will help many patients that are having problems with their brain such as memory loss, Deaf, cognitive problems due to birth or injury.  This  Brain technology will have connections to the internet in  order to help the brain understand  to work well with the body.  They have created few prototypes tested on patients with people whom have become deaf , to help them hear. This new technology will become revolutionary.  Internationally people are learning more about this new type of technology and they are very thrilled about the idea. This brain technology is definitely mind controlling literally because it has to work with the body and internet to fully understand what people are looking at. I have seen this type of mind controlling  technology only in science fiction movies and books but seeing it come to life is very exciting to learn and see it really working in an everyday life.

Campaigns and Socail Media

Wow, how surprising is it to find out that many political figures, lawyers and the older generation are not so familiar with Social Media. I have always assumed that they were very good so social networking online because of there profession  and careers they would be all up to date with  using social media  more often. As I was reading the article, http://fgamedia.org/faculty/rdcormia/COIN83/pdf/How%20Obama%20Really%20Did%20It.pdf
I can see how Obama won many voters with people in different states. John McCain and Hilary Clinton had online websites but were not really all about  advertising their campaign  online to get voters like Obama did. As the article mentions most of the networks they had online where made but older supporters. Not like Barack Obama where he had more strategy by hiring the creator of Facebook to do some work for his campaign  by using social media. This was important  to target and  reach out to people. I think that was a smart move. I believe that social media in this generation is only going to expand. The best way to reach people for anything such as  business, schools, personal, and socially is by communicating with them through social media.Having this type of connection here in the US, just imagine how  easy it would  also be to communicate with others around the world.  Social media is an epidemic form of communicating all over the world. This has made business expand worldwide and made campaigns like Obamas be known by others internationally. Social media is a positive and great way of communicating with everyone.

Online Life

Hello Everyone, today our big topic is “Online life “on Social Media. How is Social Media affecting our generation and how is these a problem to our society? Well for starters I would like to say I started using a computer probably around second grade. I remember in school learning how to type and how to use the mouse, all we did was do some problem solving for math and reading. As a kid our fun was only outdoors playing in the backyard, bike riding or running around playing tag. But Now the years have passed and things are much different than it was in second grade. When My little 5-year-old brother and 6-year-old sister, now as teenagers know more about navigating and controlling a computer then I did at their age.  Most of their fun time is online in social networks. That sometimes worries me as their older sister, because all they like to do is be on a tablet, cellphone or laptop.  As I was watching this video online, http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/kidsonline. I notice that young adolescents and teenagers that were surfing the web were posting pictures and videos of themselves and friends. I felt like this is what my siblings are doing now. This can be a problem if the children are posting things that they shouldn't be posting. That’s where I feel the parents need to also get involved in social media and get some type of knowledge on how to navigate the social networks like Facebook or Instagram. As their older sister, I have my little brother and little sister on my social networks like Instagram just to keep an eye on them. So far they use the tablets more for video games then chatting online, that's a relief. I have spoken to them and told them not to add or accepted friend request from strangers. As teenagers, they only care for having their friends from school, cousins and celebrities as friends online. As for this generation, there is no getting out of social media. It’s now part of our daily life. This has affected our society and also internationally because people use social media for business, colleges, hospitals and much more. Social media has made things much easier for people in so many ways. For example, here I am typing on a laptop blogging about social media and it feels pretty good typing then writing things down on paper. Social media will be here with us always, which I don’t think is such a bad thing.

Social Media, how Self-explanatory can this get. Well Social media has its pros and cons its positive feedback on many perspectives and its bad reputation for other things like Cyber Bullying. Yes, I know it’s not just a face to face bullying like it was when I was kid. But cyber bullying online in social media like Facebook or MySpace have gone through tough times.  As a kid, I remember that some kids that bullied other kids were having problems at home, were very insecure, had low self-esteem about their image or were getting verbally abused. Cyber bullying and Harassment are very similar we just don’t know who is behind the computer sending these negative comments. As I was watching the video  http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=6797340n on Carla’s interview she looked upset and was very frustrated because she was getting harassed online and she didn’t know who was posting those comments about her. Harassment can be a form of cyber bullying and can affect people emotionally, work wise and even socially.

Cyber bullying can be in many forms and affect people of all ages. As I saw in this last video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yha7oa21YM&feature=relmfu, I can see how Carla’s expression was much more positive in that you can see a smile on her face. Very different then the first interview she had. Now that the court is in her favor, she will soon know who this person that has been harassing her on online will be.  I can image being in this type situation, it must’ve been hard knowing you had someone who was stalking you for years online and not know who they are. Harassing people online is not what people want to go through when they decide to have a Facebook or Instagram account or any other social media. This is something that’s going around all over the world I believe that there should be more laws to protect those who are being harassed online.
